[September 04, 2015]  The PGA announced it has canceled this year's Grand Slam of Golf after determining the logistics required to move the event were too great.

Originally slated to be played at Trump National in Los Angeles on Oct. 20-21, the PGA and Donald Trump agreed to move the event after the presidential candidate was heavily criticized for controversial remarks concerning Mexican immigrants.

The Grand Slam of Golf is a 36-hole exhibition between the year's winners of the four major championships. This year's winners include Jordan Spieth (Masters, U.S. Open), Zach Johnson (British Open) and Jason Day (PGA Championship).

The PGA said it plans to resume the event in 2016.

---Will Wilcox's PGA Tour season came to an end after he withdrew from this week's Deutsche Bank Championship due to a knee injury.

Wilcox is ranked No. 89 in the FedExCup standings, and only the top 70 players following the Deutsche Bank qualify for the third leg of the playoffs.

"On Monday morning of this week, I slammed my right knee into the dash of my rental car, which was set up much differently than my car, while getting in to drive to a fundraiser golf event outside of Atlanta," Wilcox wrote on his website, www.willwilcoxgolf.com. "This was not an easy decision to make, but one I do with my best interests and future health in mind."

Wilcox said he is still experiencing pain and swelling after treating the injury with rest and ice and visiting Atlanta orthopedic doctor Scott Maughon for an X-ray and an MRI.

HORSE RACING

The owner of American Pharoah said the Triple Crown winner will continue his racing career despite his runner-up finish in the Travers Stakes on Saturday.

Owner Ahmed Zayat said he discussed the horse's future with trainer Bob Baffert and American Pharoah will be entered in the Breeders' Cup Classic at Keeneland on Oct. 31.

Zayat indicated American Pharoah's racing career might have ended after finishing a length behind Keen Ice in the Travers, ending an eight-race winning streak and marking just the second loss in 10 career starts.
