[September 16, 2015]  LINCOLN - Building and Grounds Committee Meeting Logan County Safety Complex July 7, 2015

Present: Kevin Bateman; Bob Farmer; Gene Rohlfs; Jan Schumacher
Absent: David Hepler; David Blankenship; Chuck Ruben
Guests: Mary Kelley

Mr. Bateman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

A motion was made by Mrs. Schumacher, seconded by Mr. Rolfs, to approve the minutes from the June 2, 2015 meeting. Motion passed.

Old Business:

Salary Reimbursement and Office Renovation- Kim Turner’s Office:
Mr. Bateman reported he talked to Kim Turner regarding her office renovation and asked her to submit bids to the Building and Grounds committee. Mrs. Turner has yet to submit the bid proposals to the committee. Mr. Bateman will call and remind Mrs. Turner. No action taken.

Military Veteran’s Information Center: Nothing to report.

Floor Plan/Furniture at the Assessor’s Office: Mr. Bateman reported the Assessor’s Office got new furniture. Mr. Reves reported there is still furniture on the Superintendent of Schools side. Mrs. Kelley will talk to Mr. Reves about storing files in the basement at the Assessor’s Office. Mrs. Kelley currently stores old files at Midwest Records. Mr. Bateman does not want the County Board Office to have dividers to create cubicles. The committee agreed to let the new person pick out a new desk after they get hired.

Part Time Summer Help/Full-Time Maintenance: The committee reviewed resumes for summer help. The committee would only be hiring summer help. The person they hire might not get the full time position offered by the Sheriff. Mr. Rohlfs and Mr. Reves will interview candidates #8, # 9 and #10 on Friday morning. A motion was made by Mrs. Schumacher, seconded by Mr. Farmer, to allow Mr. Rohlfs and Mr. Reves to interview candidates #8, #9 and #10. After interviews, Mr. Rohlfs and Mr. Reves can hire the best candidate. If Mr. Rohlfs and Mr. Reves are unhappy with candidates 8, 9 and 10 they then can pick a new candidate from the resumes on file. Motion passed.

Lights at the Safety Complex and Parks: Mr. Bateman reported the lights are fixed.

Electricity work in band shelter at Latham Park: Mr. Bateman needs to talk to Mr. Blankenship. Keep on the agenda.

New Business:

Ptac Unit in Sally Turner’s Office:
Mrs. Turner will be receiving a Ptac Unit in her office. Mrs. Turner’s air conditioner went out and her radiator was slowly starting to give out. Mr. Reves will call and see tomorrow when the unit should be installed.

Dead Trees: Mr. Bateman asked Mr. Reves to cut down the dead tree on the Courthouse lawn. Mr. Bateman wants Mr. Reves to fill the whole with dirt and plant grass.

Monitor to Show Warrants- Lincoln/Logan Crime Stoppers: Mrs. Kelley reported Crime Stoppers wants to put a monitor up in the rotunda to display the ten most wanted. Crime Stoppers asked Sheriff for permission and he is okay the monitor.

Mr. Bateman said if Crime Stoppers is willing to pay for the monitor and pay Viscon to run the electricity, he would approve. The committee agreed to allow Crime Stoppers to put the monitor up.

Requests: None

Report from Dennis Reves: Mr. Reves will research how much it will cost to replace the water fountain on the first floor of the Courthouse. Nothing further to report.

Budget Matters: Nothing to report.

Communications: Mr. Bateman reported we need to do something about the pigeons. Mr. Bateman would like to do something next year.

A motion was made by Mrs. Schumacher, seconded by Mr. Rohlfs, to approve the bills. Motion passed.

A motion was made by Mr. Rohlfs, seconded by Mr. Farmer, to adjourn the meeting. Motion passed. Meeting ended at 7:46 pm.
