Lady Wolverines win one, lose one in season opener

[September 19, 2015]  LINCOLN - It's hard to believe, but it is that time of year again for the Lady Wolverines. The Lady Wolverines held their home opener Thursday night against Decatur Our Lady of Lourdes.

The seventh grade Lady Wolverines came out playing vivacious defense and took a first half lead of 28-6. The Lady Wolverines never let down. The team went on to win the game by a score of 39-18.

What is even more impressive is the team had eight different people contribute offensively:

Makayla Anderson - four points
Jazmyn Robbins - two points
Asia Sales - 8 points
Karissa Bowman - six Points
Emily Paulus - four points
Tori schilling - four points
Abbie Oliver - two points

Leading Scorer was Madison Orebaugh with nine Points

The Lady Wolverines pride themselves on their defense and Madison Orebaugh led the defense attack with eight steals as Asia Sales contributed with five.

Tori Schilling led on the rebounding side grabbing four rebounds.

In between the seventh and eighth grade game, there was a ceremony to honor last year's State Championship team as their banner was unveiled and now hangs in the WLB gymnasium.

The eighth grade team came out fighting as both teams finished in the final four last year at state. but it wasn't enough, and they fell 37-42.

Madelyn Koehler led all scorers with 16 points as Makayla Anderson, Leah Schneider and Madison Orebaugh contributed with five points each. Emily Paulus added four and Brooke Montcalm claimed two.

Madison Orebaugh led all rebounders with five.

The Lady Wolverines will be back in action at home on September 24th. Please come out and support these hard working girls.
