Friday morning stabbing incident results in one arrest

[September 19, 2015]  LINCOLN - On Friday, September 18, 2015, at about 2:16 a.m., Lincoln Police Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of Broadway St, Lincoln, IL, in reference to a female that had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, Lincoln Police officers and medical first responders provided assistance to a female suffering from injuries consistent with being cut by a knife. The female victim was transported by ambulance to a hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Lincoln Police processed the crime scene gathering physical evidence. In addition, Lincoln Police conducted interviews on scene. As a result, Haylee Poteet (21) of Lincoln was arrested for Armed Violence (Class X Felony) and Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony) at the scene.

This investigation is still in progress by the Lincoln Police Department. The arrest charges are merely allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. All reports will be forwarded to the Logan County State’s Attorney for review.
