Service: Burial will be at a later date in Mason City Cemetery.

Richard Leroy Griffin, 90, of Lincoln, formerly of Mason City, passed away September 17, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and burial will be at a later date in Mason City Cemetery. Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln has been entrusted with his care.

Richard was born December 8, 1924, in Glasford, the son of Cargill and Josephine (Bates) Griffin. He married Lulu J. McGinnis on January 22, 1954. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2007.

Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason City, IL and later transferred his membership to the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln.

He retired from Caterpillar in Peoria, after more than 30 yeas of service. He was on a bowling league in Mason City for several years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's fan.

Survivors include his children: Judy Dixon (Bill Basso) of Lincoln, Pam Griffin of TX, and Randy Griffin also of Texas; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or to the National Kidney Foundation.
