[September 23, 2015]   LINCOLN - Mack Bailey and his trusty guitar will arrive here in Lincoln on Saturday, September 26 to present the first concert in the Lincoln Land Concert Association’s 2015-2016 series.

The curtain will rise at 7 p.m. at the Hargrove Chapel Auditorium at Lincoln Christian University.

You can tell a lot about Mack Bailey by the musical company he keeps. Mack has been hailed as “the next great singer in folk music” by no less an authority than Glenn Yarbrough, the original tenor in the world-renowned folk trio, “The Limeliters.” Mack’s career came full circle when in 2004 he was asked to be the newest tenor in The Limeliters, with which fabulous group he performed around the country for eight years.

Using John Denver’s music, Mack taught himself to play the guitar, so it was a thrill for him when he had the privilege of trading verses to “Thank God I’m A Country Boy” with Denver in front of 9000 people shortly before John’s death.

As an accomplished guitar player, Mack accompanies himself in a wide ranging program of folk, pop, humorous and original songs, including such familiar tunes as “Misty”, “Sunny Side of the Street”, “Danny Boy”, and a host of other fun songs, plus some of his more serious original compositions.

Originally hailing from the small town of Troy, North Carolina, Mack attended the North Carolina School of the Arts and graduated with a degree in music performance. Besides performing solo, composing and recording eight solo albums, Mack is musically active in several medical causes including individual outreach in Alzheimer’s units. He continues to enjoy working with school students on songwriting in their creative writing classes.

Mack also performs with his wife, Rachel Levy, and they have written several songs and won awards in the country/bluegrass category as well as receiving acclaim from former Vice-President Al Gore for promoting environmental awareness. They currently reside in Denver, Colorado.

Admission to the concert is part of the season package for LLCA season ticket holders. Individual concert tickets may be purchased at the door. Season memberships will also be available at the door and will include admission to all four LLCA concerts this season, as well as to all concerts presented by the Pontiac and Canton concert association partners.
