From Coach Nelson:
"We ran into a buzzsaw on the mound today. The Feely kid from
Metcalf had it going on today. He started out trying to throw it by
us with a better-than-average fastball but we hung 2 runs on him
early. After the 1st, he mixed it up with an above average slider
and change-up. At this level, with a guy that has 3 quality pitches
with that type of velocity, it makes it very difficult to hit. We
didn't make our adjustments at the plate soon enough to get to him
after the 1st inning. Feely threw a great game for them.
"On the other hand, Alex Bogdanic matched him on the mound for us
today. Alex probably pitched his best game of his career today but
we couldn't score enough runs for him. Alex hit his spots and mixed
up location as well as I've seen all year. Being a 1-pitch pitcher,
he held a very good hitting team to only 5 runs, NONE of which were
earned. A couple of miscues in the field led to the Metcalf runs and
made it difficult on us to get those runs back. It was a lot of fun
watching Alex battle every hitter today.

"Offensively, we struck out 14 times and Metcalf only struck out 4
times. That's 10 more times we had to field it and throw it than
what they had to do. I think if we had put it in play a little more,
we could've been right there. Easier said then done though with
their #1 on the mound.
"Overall, I'm happy how our kids played this year. I hope they
learned a little bit about the game and about how to conduct
themselves off the field. I want to wish them all good luck in the
next season, whether it's basketball or wrestling. It's a great
group of kids and they have a lot to look forward to in the coming
years.
"I also want to thank the WLB Administration and faculty, parents,
Booster Club, and everyone else for the support going through the
year. It was really cool seeing a few of our players' friends from
other teams come out and support us too. We couldn't have done it
without all of you and we appreciate it very much!! (WLB
