[September 28, 2015]  Sept 27 (The Sports Xchange) - The Toronto Maple Leafs agreed to terms with free agent forward Brad Boyes on a one-year contract Sunday.

Boyes was originally invited to training camp with the Maple Leafs on a professional tryout.

Boyes, 33, had 38 points (14 goals and 24 assists) in 78 regular-season games last season with the Florida Panthers. In 762 career NHL games, he has 481 points (203 goals and 278 assists) with the San Jose Sharks, Boston Bruins, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres, New York Islanders and Panthers.

Boyes also has three goals and four assists in 17 career NHL playoff games. He was originally a first round draft pick of the Maple Leafs in the 2000 draft.

The Maple Leafs reassigned 2015 first-round draft pick Mitch Marner to the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League. The 18-year-old forward was drafted fourth overall this year.

The Leafs also assigned goaltender Rob Madore to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League as they trimmed their training camp roster to 42 players.

The team released Curtis Glencross and Devin Setoguchi from their professional tryout contracts.

The Tampa Bay Lightning claimed goaltender Kevin Poulin off waivers from the New York Islanders.

The team also released goaltender Ray Emery from his professional tryout.

Poulin, a native of Montreal, has appeared in 50 NHL games, all with the Islanders, posting a .899 save percentage and a 3.07 goals-against average. The 25-year-old was drafted by the Islanders in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL draft.

The Calgary Flames made a series of moves to reduce their training camp roster to 32 players.

The Flames assigned left wingers Kenny Agostino, Bryce Van Brabant and Morgan Klimchuk, center Bill Arnold, defensemen Ryan Culkin, Keegan Kanzig, Oliver Kylington, Pat Sieloff and Kenney Morrison, goaltender Jon Gillies, and right wingers Emile Poirier and Blair Riley to Stockton, their American Hockey League affiliate.

Calgary returned defenseman Rasmus Andersson to Barrie of the Ontario Hockey League and placed forwards Turner Elson and Derek Grant on waivers. If Elson and Grant clear waivers, they will be sent to Stockton.

The Boston Bruins assigned eight players to Providence of the AHL.

Noel Acciari, Chris Breen, Anthony Camara, Brandon DeFazio, Justin Hickman, Zane McIntyre, Ben Sexton and Malcolm Subban were sent to the team's AHL affiliate.

The team also released Ben Youds from the Boston's training camp and he will join Providence's camp.

Jakub Zboril (Saint John Sea Dogs, QMJHL), Brandon Carlo (Tri-City Americans, WHL) and Jake DeBrusk (Swift Current Broncos, WHL) were returned to their junior teams.

The Arizona Coyotes assigned seven players to the Springfield Falcons of the AHL.

Left wingers Craig Cunningham and Lucas Lessio, centers Tyler Gaudet and Brendan Shinnimin, goaltenders Marek Langhamer and Niklas Treutle, and defensemen Dakota Mermis were sent to the team's AHL affiliate.

The Coyotes also assigned center Christian Dvorak (London, OHL) and left winger Brendan Perlini (Niagara, OHL) to their junior teams.

In addition, the Coyotes released defenseman Keith Aulie and right winger Patrick Dwyer from their professional tryout agreements.

The Colorado Avalanche assigned three players to San Antonio of the AHL to reduce their preseason roster to 37 players.

Centers Colin Smith and Ben Street, and goalie Roman were sent to the team's AHL affiliate.
