[September 28, 2015]  LINCOLN - Lorna M. Kavelman, 99, of Lincoln passed away at 9:42 p.m. on September 25, 2015 at Symphony of Lincoln, Lincoln.

Visitation: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln

Obituary

Lorna M. Kavelman, 99, of Lincoln passed away at 9:42 p.m. on September 25, 2015 at Symphony of Lincoln, Lincoln.

Lorna was born June 9, 1916 in Lincoln, the daughter of Anton and Hilda Anna Haferkamp Oltmanns. She married William Kavelman on June 13, 1940. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1981.

Lorna is survived by her children; Thomas (Beth) Kavelman and Pamela Kavelman; her five grandchildren: Kathy (Chuck) Martin, Kelly (Stephen) Beringer, Kristy (Todd) Hammet, Travis (Sharbani) Fullem, and Leah Fullem; her three step-grandchildren: Emilia (Josh) Davenport, Joseph (Ashley) Davis, and Alexandrea Davis; seven great- grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Wilbur Oltmanns; an infant brother and sister; and a son-in-law, Bruce Fullem.

 

Lorna was the floriculture superintendent for the Logan County Fair for 50 years. She served as a Brownie Girl Scout Leader, and was also the county chair on the University of Illinois Mother’s Club. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers, especially roses. She was a life member of Zion Lutheran Church, having been baptized and confirmed there. And was a volunteer and member of ALM Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

Services for Lorna will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. Mark Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 pm Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Burial will take place after the service at New Union Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Lorna’s name to Zion Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran School.
