At
the Tuesday evening workshop session of the Lincoln
City Council it was announced that removal of the
rail cars at the Lincoln Depot will commence on
Monday. The company doing the work will move large
trailers into the area on Friday. Cranes will arrive
on Monday and by Thursday it is expected that the
rail cars will be gone. While the crews are working
to remove the two Pullman cars and two cabooses
Chicago Street between Pekin and Broadway is
expected to be closed.
It was also announced
that crossing work for the high-speed rail will
begin next week on Tremont and Pulaski Streets.
Those crossings are expected to be closed for
approximately two months.
