[September 30, 2015]  Sept 29 (The Sports Xchange) - Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose suffered a left orbital fracture after being struck in the face by an elbow during a preseason practice session on Tuesday and faces surgery to repair the injured area.

Rose was taken to a Chicago hospital where it was determined after an evaluation and testing by Bulls team physicians that surgery was necessary. The Bulls said the procedure will take place Wednesday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without guard Iman Shumpert for 12 to 14 weeks after he sustained a wrist injury.

The Cavaliers announced that an MRI on Monday found a ruptured extensor carpi ulnaris sheath in Shumpert's right wrist. Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday.

Facebook is venturing into new territory when the social media site simulcasts a Cavaliers training camp practice on Thursday.

For the first time, Facebook will stream a live sporting event. "NBA Real Training Camp" will air from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT.

The Dallas Mavericks might have to wait for guard Wesley Matthews to make his debut with the team while he recovers from a torn Achilles.

Dallas signed Matthews in the offseason knowing that his recovery would be slow from the injury sustained in March while playing for the Portland Trail Blazers. It could be until Christmas before Matthews makes it onto the court.

Forward Harrison Barnes hopes his future is with the Golden State Warriors.

To make that happen, the Warriors might need to sacrifice elsewhere. Barnes turned down a four-year, $64 million offer from the Warriors and begins the 2015-16 season in a contract year. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
