Rauner names Sean McCarthy Acting Director of DCEO; Jim Schultz to transition to ILBEDC

[April 02, 2016]  CHICAGO – Governor Bruce Rauner today announced that Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Director Jim Schultz is transitioning out of the Administration to become the Chief Executive Officer at the Illinois Business and Economic Development Corporation (ILBEDC). Governor Rauner has designated Sean McCarthy as Acting Director of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

McCarthy currently serves as the Governor’s Policy Advisor for Economic Development and has experience working in economic development at the community, state and federal level. As Acting Director, McCarthy will collaborate with Schultz and the ILBEDC to further economic development in Illinois.
