[April 15, 2016]  LINCOLN - The Logan County Humane Society in partnership with the Animal Protective League is offering free spay and neuter procedures for feral cats.

Stray cats that roam neighborhoods with no particular owner are at risk of producing unwanted and often wild kittens, thus feeding the population around town of animals without permanent homes.

The Humane Society is recommending that when possible these animals should be spayed or neutered to prevent the increase in population.

Animals will be transported to Springfield for the procedures. Pet owners with tame dogs and cats may also participate in the transport for the normal spay/neuter fees. To learn more about this, please contact the Humane Society of Logan County at 217-737-4042.

The transport is scheduled for Friday, April 18th. Space is limited for the feral cat program. The HSLC may only take 20 feral cats to the APL for the free services.
