[April 26, 2016]  LINCOLN - During this month's Logan County Board voting session on Tuesday, April 19, Kevin Bateman brought forward three motions from the Transportation Advisory Committee.

Bateman's first motion was to approve the Ordinance to provide County Public Transportation.

The second motion was to approve a resolution for the chairman's authority to execute section 5311, the downstate operating assistance grant agreement for Logan County.

The third motion was approve the acceptance of a special warranty for a financial assistance grant.

All three motions passed 9-2 with Rick Aylesworth, Kevin Bateman, Miles Craig, Emily Davenport, Bob Farmer, David Hepler, Pat O'Neill, Chuck Ruben, and Scott Schaffenacker voting, yes. Dave Blankenship and Gene Rohlfs voted, no, on each motion.

Community Action's representative, Alison Rumler-Gomez, told the board that the transportation contract needs to be renewed in July. She asked whether the board planned to renew the contract with Community Action for public transportation or if there was some indication the board might not renew it.

Hepler said, "If I understand, it automatically renews unless we choose to go elsewhere."

Rumler-Gomez said it would automatically renew unless there was notification by "either Community Action or the county board to terminate the agreement."

Rumler-Gomez also asked about who to contact with questions. Rumler-Gomez said she is confused about whether to communicate with the Executive Committee or the recently formed Transportation Committee. In the past, the Executive Committee brought forward transportation issues.

Hepler said the Transportation Committee will now bring issues forward.

There will be a special Regular board meeting on Monday, May 2 to discuss public transportation's Deviated Fixed Route and who picks the locations.
