[August 05, 2016]    LINCOLN - Lincoln College incoming freshman, UB Meiche (Dirngulbai Misech) is competing in the 2016 World Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Meiche represents Palau and swims in the 50 Free and is scheduled to compete on Friday, August 12 at 11:08 a.m. (CDT) in Heat 3 Lane 4.

Palau is an archipelago of more than 500 islands, part of the Micronesia region in the western Pacific Ocean.

Meiche will be a freshman at Lincoln College this Fall and will swim for the Lynx. Lincoln College head swimming and diving coach Johnathan Jordan said of Meiche, “This should be a fun race to watch. Looking at her lane placement and competitors, she should be able to win her heat.” Jordan has been in contact with Meiche’s Olympic coach throughout the process and the two of them are excited for the Games to begin.

There are 12 Heats on August 12th beginning with Heat 1 at 11:02 a.m. with the top 16 moving on to the Semifinals. Semifinals will take place later that evening beginning at 8:59 p.m. and the top 8 will advance to the Finals on Saturday, August 13th at 8:03pm.

The Games officially begin with the Opening Ceremonies on Friday, August 5 at 7:00pm.
