[August 26, 2016]  The West Lincoln-Broadwell baseball team was back home on Thursday night to take on the visiting Bruins from Mount Pulaski (4-1). After a couple of hours of field work by coach Charlie Miller and A.D. Kris Skold, the field looked great and was ready for play.

Starting pitcher Lucas Konczyk (1-1) held the Bruins at bay in the first two innings before running into a little trouble in the 3rd inning. After getting the 9-hitter on a comebacker, the leadoff hitter reached on a soft liner to 2nd base. Three singles and three walks scored four runs giving MP the early lead. Four runs proved to be plenty for hard-throwing right-hander Drew Martin (MP) as he finished with four innings of work giving up one unearned run on just one hit while striking out seven. Davis came in to finish the final three innings for MP.
WLB was able to plate two early runs off of Davis on three straight singles by Scotty Battin, Patrick McCraith, and Konczyk loading the bases. A grounder hit by Drew Eimer wasn't handled cleanly by MP allowing two runs to score closing the gap to 8-3. One more run in the 6th inning by WLB got them to within four runs at 8-4, but that was as close as they would get.

Daulton Miller relieved Konczyk in the 5th and 6th inning and allowed four runs in the 6th inning; none were earned. A nifty 4-6-3 double play got Miller out of trouble to end the inning. Patrick McCraith came in to throw the 7th with no further damage done.

Offensively for the Wolverines, Konczyk reached on two singles and a walk. McCraith also singled, walked, and scored twice. Miller and Battin each singled and scored a run. Sam Gleason and Jacob Langley also had a base knock apiece.

Final score WLB - 4; Mount Pulaski - 12
