[August 29, 2016]    The Lincoln College women's golf team has been preparing these first few weeks of the fall semester gearing up for a busy fall golf season.

With a roster of four freshman and two sophomores, head coach Carol Wilson's young team has been working hard and improvements have been showing. The team open up tournament action on Saturday, September 3rd and Sunday, September 4th at the Augustana Fall Classic at Highland Springs in Rock Island. The 2-day, 26-hole tournament begins at12:00 p.m. on Saturday and again at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.

One test for the ladies at the collegiate level will be the length of the courses they will play. Adjustments will need to be made as longer iron shots will be needed in order to hit greens in regulation. Coach Wilson is confident her team will adjust. "This is a very determined group of ladies both on the course and in the classroom," Coach Wilson commented.

The freshman will get acclimated very early on as they will compete in seven events this fall. Included in the freshman bunch is Amber Bausch from Moline. Bausch played at Alleman High School in Rock Island and qualified for the IHSA State tournament her senior year. Illini Central alum Jenah Thompson, also a freshman, advanced to the IHSA Sectional tournament last season. Freshmen Jaylee Swinford and Anna Walters both played on the Lincoln Railer girls golf team that advanced as a team to the Sectional tournament last fall.

Sophomores Ally Green (Clinton) and Kasharia Hawkins (Chicago) complete the six-person roster for Coach Wilson. "Hopefully by playing in so many fall tournament," Coach Wilson said, "this will give them an idea of what they need to work on between now and the spring with the National qualifier in April."
