[August 30, 2016]  MOUNT PULASKI - Margaret E. “Maggie” Swain, 98, of Mount Pulaski passed away at 5:50 p.m. Sunday August 28, 2016 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Visitation:  1 p.m. Thursday September 1, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski

Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Obituary

Margaret E. “Maggie” Swain, 98, of Mount Pulaski passed away at 5:50 p.m. Sunday August 28, 2016 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Maggie was born on January 12, 1918 in Presque Isle, ME, to Albert W. and Emma Allen Bullerwell. She lived in Caribou, ME, and graduated from Caribou High School in 1936. She moved to Massachusetts around 1938, living in Lynn and then Cambridge.

During WWII, she worked as a radio tube tester at Raytheon Mfg. Co. She did dressmaking with her mother for 3 years. She then worked as a bookkeeper for 18 years for an insurance firm.

On September 12, 1970, she married Linn B. Swain and lived in Burlington and worked as a secretary to the Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cambridge for 7 years. Linn, Maggie and her mother moved to Mount Pulaski on November 2, 1983. Linn passed away on January 5, 1985 after a short illness.

Maggie is a member of the Mount Pulaski United Methodist Church, Mount Pulaski Women’s Club, Billerica Chapter No. 212, Order of the Eastern Star of Billerica, MA and Oppela Temple No. 50, Daughters of the Nile of Boston, MA and was a volunteer at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

 

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services for Maggie will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday September 1, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski with Rev. Ziola Marty officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Mount Pulaski Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Mount Pulaski First United Methodist Church.
