[December 01, 2016]  LINCOLN - Charles E. ”Sonny” Smith Jr., 81, of Lincoln passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Advocate Bromenn Medical Center in Normal.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Lincoln.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 2, at the funeral home.

Funeral home: Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Lincoln

Charles E.”Sonny” Smith Jr., 81, of Lincoln passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Advocate Bromenn Medical Center in Normal.

Charles was born on February 13, 1935 in Lincoln; son of Charles E. and Carrie (Byers) Smith Sr. He married Elaine Embry on December 26, 1964 in Leitchfield, KY, She survives in Lincoln.

Also surviving Charles are his children: Steven (Sheri) Smith and Michael Smith both from Bloomington, grandchildren: Nolan and Garrett Smith.



 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Hubert, and sister: Nancy Shehorn.

Charles was an operator at Eaton Corp, formerly Cutler Hammer, for 42 years. He was a member of IAM Machinist Union, loved spending time with his family especially taking vacations together, bowling, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Services for Charles will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 also at the funeral home. Burial at New Union Cemetery will follow the service. Memorial donations may be made in Charles’ name to Lincoln Christian Church.
