Eighth grade Crusaders advance season to 12-0

[December 02, 2016]    The Crusaders of Carroll Catholic/New Holland-Middletown/Zion Lutheran Schools traveled to Decatur Thursday evening to play the Hawks of Decatur Hope.

 

In the 7th grade game, the Crusaders lost a close one by a score of 50-48. Leading the scoring was Trent Koehler with 22 points, including four three-pointers in the 4th quarter in a great comeback effort. Andrew Graue had 18 points, also hitting two clutch three-pointers in the 4th quarter. The Crusader scoring was rounded out by Drew McCray with 6 points and Kannon Browne with 2.

The 7th graders fall to 8-4 on the season.

In the 8th grade contest, the Crusaders took an early lead and never looked back, winning by a score of 54-30. The Crusaders were led in scoring by Andrew Graue with 19 and Dylan Singleton with 16. The rest of the scoring saw Trent Koehler score 8 points; Jared Helton scored 5 points, Jared Merriman made 4, and Isaiah Wahab gained 2.

The 8th grade squad is now 12-0.

The Crusaders next play at Normal Epiphany, in a rematch of the 7th grade state championship from one year ago. The game will be Monday at 6 p.m., in Normal.
