[December 08, 2016]  Dec 7 (The Sports Xchange) - The Detroit Red Wings removed goaltender Jimmy Howard from injured reserve on Wednesday.

Howard, 32, has shown significant progress since suffering a groin injury on Nov. 25 against the New Jersey Devils. He is 5-5-0 with a 1.82 goals-against average and .940 save percentage in 12 games (11 starts) this season.

The Edmonton Oilers placed defenseman Mark Fayne on injured reserve.

Fayne, 29, logged just 4:34 of ice time due to an undisclosed injury in the 4-3 overtime loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. He has played in only four games this season because of injuries, posting two assists.

The San Jose Sharks recalled defenseman Mirco Mueller from the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League.

Mueller, 21, ranks third among defensemen on the Barracuda in assists with six in 16 games this season. In 78 career AHL games, he has 20 points (two goals, 18 assists). In 50 NHL games, Mueller has one goal and three assists.

The Boston Bruins assigned forward Noel Acciari to Providence of the American Hockey League.

Acciari, 24, appeared in 12 games with the NHL's Bruins in 2016-17, logging two assists and four penalty minutes. He skated in 31 career NHL games with the Bruins the past two seasons, compiling three assists and 12 penalty minutes.

The Anaheim Ducks recalled right winger Stefan Noesen from the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League.

Noesen, 23, appeared in two career NHL games with Anaheim. He played in the Ducks' franchise-tying 10th straight victory on March 3 in Arizona.

The New York Rangers recalled forward Nicklas Jensen from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Jensen, 23, played in 21 games with the Wolf Pack this season, registering eight goals, seven assists and 18 penalty minutes. He leads Hartford in shots on goal (68), is tied for the team lead in goals and ranks second in points (15).

Jensen skated in 24 career NHL games over parts of three seasons, all with the Vancouver Canucks, recording three goals, three assists and 10 penalty minutes. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
