The public is invited to Camp Griesheim's Annual Meeting to be held on Sunday, September 15 at 5 p.m. in their main facility in Atlanta, Illinois.  Refreshments and fellowship will follow the meeting.

St. John United Church of Christ in Lincoln is sponsoring a Christian Carnival on Sunday from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The activities will be on the church's parking lot, at the corner of Eighth and Maple streets.

The public is invited. All ages are welcome to join in the games, snacks, songs, stories and more fun -- and win prizes, too -- all for free.

For answers to questions about the event, call the church office, 732-6957.

The carnival is sponsored by the St. John Christian Education Ministry.

WHO: Open to everyone
DETAILS: Logan County Love will once again provide a free meal to anyone wishing to join. If you are interested, please stop by and introduce yourself as the group would love to see everyone in the community. Come hungry and leave fulfilled. For this month, the meal will include chicken and noodles. If you are unable to drive but would like a meal, call the church, 217-732-6957, between 5 and 6 pm.

The theme during Advent will be "Come Home For Christmas" with special events each Sunday. Services are at 11:00 am.
Fourth Sunday in Advent-December 18th: "Wear Your Ugly Christmas Sweater/Tie". Join us for the fun, yet prepare for the Birth of the Newborn King.
Christmas Eve Service with candlelight and special music. This is a meditative, moving service as we wait for the Birth of Jesus.
Sunday, Christmas Day-December 25th: Holy Communion Service at 11:00am. "Come Home for Christmas" to celebrate the Birth of our Newborn King. Bring your family and visitors.

Our December calendar of events is mostly our regular services except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Our regular service times are Sundays 7:30am and 9:45am, Tuesdays 8:00am Morning Prayer, Thursdays 6:00pm Healing Service. We also now offer Sunday School for children ages 4-12 every Sunday at 8:30am (there is also adult education happening at this time).

Christmas Eve service at 8:00pm

Christmas Sunday we will have one service at 9:45am instead of the regular two services.

December 18th, 2016—Choir Cantata

The Christmas Cantata this year will be “Joy!” by Joel Raney.  Joy!  tells the story of Jesus’s birth through gospel music.  The music will feature the choir and several soloists and will be accompanied by an instrumental ensemble.  Scripture readings on the theme of joy are interspersed throughout.   The cantata will be presented on Sunday, December 18th at the 10:00 a.m. worship service.  What is more joyful than the good news of Christ’s birth and what sounds more joyful than gospel music?  Plan to attend this joyous service!

December 21st—A Blue Christmas Service of Comfort, Loss, Love & Hope, The holiday season is hard for some of us. You are not alone. This service will provide time and space, through song and readings from Scripture, for God’s people to reflect on the sadness this time of the year can invoke, while also remembering that God is there, and that light will soon return. Everyone is invited. No one is left out.
Traditionally centered on the Winter Solstice [12/21—the longest night of the year] our service will be held on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016 @ 7 p.m. A FREE supper will be served at 6:00 p.m.
December 24th, 2016—Christmas Eve Service: Candlelight and Carols First Presbyterian Church will have their candlelight Christmas Eve service at 7pm. Please join us as we celebrate through lessons and carols the coming of the Christ child.
