LDN -- Top Stories

At the Lincoln Park District Aquatic Center, the little pirate in the kiddie pool pretty well tells the story of the weekend, as much of Logan County is still covered with ice. On Monday evening, Lincoln Street Superintendent Walt Landers said that the city crews had spread salt twice since Friday on every street in town. All together they have used 185 tons of salt, 200 gallons of Chloride, spent 33 man hours and 140 gallons of fuel trying to make the city streets safer. Even so, he said with temperatures still only reaching the teens during the daytime, the treatments have little effect in many areas. Temperatures are expected to rise soon, but until then - be safe out there!
