[December 23, 2016]    Dec 22 (The Sports Xchange) - The Chicago Blackhawks placed center Artem Anisimov on injured reserve Thursday with an upper-body injury.

Anisimov was injured in Saturday's win in St. Louis and sat the following two games. Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said the injury is not serious and the move is designed to capitalize on the NHL's three-day Christmas break which starts Saturday.

Anisimov, who has 14 goals and 13 assists in 27 games, is eligible to return next Tuesday.

The St. Louis Blues placed center Paul Stastny on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.

Stastny was injured after playing a little over two minutes in the third period of Tuesday's overtime win at Dallas.

Stastny will miss Thursday's game at Tampa Bay but it might be the only game he sits as due to the NHL's Christmas break, St. Louis will not have another game until hosting the Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday.

In 34 games this season, Statsny has recorded seven goals and 17 points.

The Florida Panthers recalled goalie Mike McKenna on an emergency basis to back up James Reimer as veteran starter Roberto Luongo will not dress for Thursday's game against the Boston Bruins.

Luongo is listed as day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.

McKenna, 33, last appeared in an NHL game with the Arizona Coyotes in February 2015.

The Tampa Bay Lightning recalled left wing Michael Bournival from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.
