Obituary

Robert “Bob” Wayne Sparks, 63, of Lincoln (formerly of Middletown) passed away at 5:19 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Bob was born on August 30, 1953 in Lincoln, son of Thomas Alfred “Pete” and Dorothy Marie ( Dugan) Sparks.

He married and divorced Linda Rose Coffey, and always considered her daughters, Wendy Waltosz, Paula Coffey, and Julie Stotts as his own. They survive.

Bob is survived by two brothers, Tom (Ruth Anne) Sparks of Lincoln, Gary (Ken Solem) Sparks of Bloomington, and four sisters, Rita (Howie) Coffey of Petersburg, Donna Hutchison of Lincoln, Nancy (Gus) Otto of Lincoln, and Patricia (Brett) Simpson of New Holland, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his fur babies, Captain and Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: William D. Sparks and Gerald A. Sparks, a brother-in-law: Dennis “Gator” Hutchison, and his companion Debbie Creager.

Bob loved life and from a very early age, lived it on his own terms. He will always be remembered for his smile, his stories of mischief, and most of all his wit. He loved local, live music and was known to get out on the dance floor with his sisters. He was so proud that he could always pick the winner of the Voice. He will forever be in our hearts.

He enjoyed spending his younger years on the farm with his Uncle Turk Sparks. He attended school at New Holland-Middletown with the class of 1971. He has held many jobs in his lifetime from breaking horses, to an over the road truck driver, and most recently a bartender at Legend’s Billiards Bar and Grill and Mr. Lucky’s.

Celebration of life for Bob will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Jefferson Street Christian Church. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday December 16, 2016 also at the church. Burial at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Middletown will follow the service.

Memorials may be made in Robert’s name to the family.
