Crusaders head to state after winning Sectional Championship

[February 04, 2016]    The Crusaders of Carroll Catholic/New Holland-Middletown/Zion Lutheran Schools are heading to the state tournament, after a 41-23 victory over Greenview Wednesday night in the Decatur Lady of Lourdes sectional.

In a game that started off slow, the Crusaders held a 14-7 half-time lead, before starting the third quarter off quickly and pulling away for the decisive victory.

Leading the scoring was Dylan Singleton, who tallied 23 points, followed by Alex Janssen with 12. Also scoring for the Crusaders were Nathan Fulscher with 4 and Andrew Graue with 2.

Next up for the Crusaders is a matchup with Joliet Laraway at 1 p.m. Saturday in East Peoria.
