[February 12, 2016]  LINCOLN -  The Lincoln Community High School speech team had four regional champions at the IHSA Regional Tournament at Normal West.

Senior Braden Tanner was a double champion in Dramatic Interpretation and Poetry Reading; junior Claire Conrady won Original Comedy; and seniors Lena Stapleton and McKenzie Landers won Humorous Duet Acting.

he team placed 4th out of 10 teams at the Regional.
 

LCHS speech team finalists at the IHSA Regional tournament at Normal West Saturday advance to the Sectional tournament at Belleville West next weekend. They are: Claire Conrady, Lena Stapleton, McKenzie Landers, Justin Woods, Braden Tanner and Reagen Tibbs.

Additional events that advance to sectionals were: Conrady, 3rd in Prose Reading; junior Reagen Tibbs, 3rd in Extemporaneous Speaking; sophomore Justin Woods, 4th in Humorous Interpretation; and Woods and Stapleton, 4th in Dramatic Duet Acting.

"I am extremely proud of these young competitors," said head coach Jennifer Keith. "The growth has been exponential and they work diligently to improve themselves and their speeches. Belleville will be the most difficult tournament of the season, but we will be ready."

Freshmen Hunter McKinney, Laura Centers, Aleaya Turley and junior Jake Berglin were finalists at the regional but did not advance to sectional competition.
