Logan County students place in Science and Engineering regional academic competition

 

[February 16, 2016]  LINCOLN - The Mount Pulaski High School Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Team placed second recently in regional competition at Lincoln Land Community College. The team will advance to sectional competition at Illinois College in Jacksonville on March 8.

According to the LLCC website, "More than 350 students from 22 high schools in the Lincoln Land Community College District competed in the annual WYSE regional level academic challenge Tuesday, February 2 at the LLCC-Springfield campus.

Students competed as individuals and as teams testing in their choice of two to seven different subjects - biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, mathematics and physics. The tests are written by teams of college and university faculty and are designed to present a challenge to high school students."

Locally, Mount Pulaski and Hartsburg-Emden both competed in Division 300, which consists of schools with an enrollment of 300 students or less. Mount Pulaski finished second behind Athens. In addition to team competition, Mount Pulaski and Hartsburg-Emden students excelled in individual competition. Those rankings are listed below and are courtesy of the LLCC website.
