[February 18, 2016]    LINCOLN - This past weekend, Trey Schilling, a fourth-grader from West Lincoln-Broadwell, qualified for, competed in, and secured a second-place finish in the state Elks Hoop Shoot competition held in Decatur.

Trey finished the competition making 20 of 25 free throws and qualified as the alternate for the regional competition in Iowa in March. The winner in Trey’s age group made 21 of 25 free throws.

The national winner at each age level will have their name engraved on a plaque in the National Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The Lincoln Elks Lodge #914 and the local organizers would like to thank all of the area boys and girls that competed in this year’s Elk’s Hoop Shoot competition.

The Elks encourages all boys and girls, ages 8 to 13 to compete next year and to continue a great tradition.
