Illinois Upsets Purdue

[January 11, 2016]  CHAMPAIGN-URBANA - The University of Illinois used the double-whammy on The Purdue Boilermakers Sunday evening in Champaign.

Malcolm Hill led the charge with 30 points while Kendrick Nunn returned to the team and chipped in 22 to lead the Illini to an 84-70 triumph over the Boilers. It was the first league win for the Illini who are now 1-3 in Big Ten play as Purdue suffered its first true road loss of the year.

Purdue out-rebounded Illinois 31-25. The Illini forced Purdue into 16 turnovers which led to 24 points, and were the first team this season that shot over 50% from the field against the Boilers finishing at 54% including blistering shooting in the second half and from three-point range. Jalen Coleman-Lands added ten points for the Illini and Maverick Morgan had 6 points off the bench.
Illinois has a few days off before they host the Nebraska Cornhuskers Saturday at 1:30.
