Make Health a Priority in 2016 – Attend the Wellness Expo

[January 22, 2016]  LINCOLN - The Logan County Department of Public Health, Lincoln Park District and the Healthy Communities Partnership are excited to invite the public to the free Wellness Expo on February 20 from 9:00am – 1:00pm at the Lincoln Park District.

“As we enter 2016, we encourage our community to make health a priority by planning to attend the 2016 Wellness Expo,” said Angela Stoltzenburg, Healthy Communities Partnership manager. “The Expo is a great opportunity to learn about local resources for healthy habits. Simply attending the Expo is a step in the right direction for a healthier life and it’s a great way for families to help celebrate health together.”

A variety of activities will be taking place throughout the Expo. Back by popular demand this year, sponsored by Healthy Communities Partnership, is a 65 foot inflatable obstacle course available for unlimited fun for all ages. Free health screenings will include cholesterol, Body Mass Index, health assessments, pulse oximeter, glucose, bone density, blood pressure and more.

Stacy’s Family Pharmacy is hosting a “Brown Bag” event on-site from 9am-1pm providing free pharmacist consultations to review all medications and possible interactions. To make an appointment for the brown bag event, please contact 217-735-1972. There are also opportunities to “Ask the Certified Diabetes Educator” and pregnant and new moms are encourage dot attend “Bring Your Babies: Breastfeeding 101” to hear from a certified lactation consultant and much more.

Recycling opportunities will be available during the expo including drug recycling, eyeglasses, cell phones, hearing aids, plastic bags and printer cartridges.
