[July 07, 2016]  LINCOLN -  Dennis R. Brown, 64, of Lincoln, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Visitation: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Service: 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home

Obituary

Dennis R. Brown, 64, of Lincoln, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorial services will follow at 1 p.m. Friday also at the funeral home with Karen Witts officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Brown Cemetery, Blue Mound Township.

Dennis was born April 3, 1952, in Decatur, the son of Ralph and Velma Brown. He married Marsha May on September 24, 1988.

Dennis retired from Lincoln Developmental Center in 2002. He was a member of the Humane Society of Logan County, The Oasis Senior Center where he previously served as President, was a volunteer at Memorial Physician Services, enjoyed crocheting and knitting and was a member of the Tuesday group at Serendipity Stitches. He was a blue ribbon winner at the Logan County Fair for his crochet work. He loved music and was particularly fond of the music of Tammy Wynette.

 

Dennis was a kind soul and a friend to many. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.

Surviving are his wife Marsha Brown of Lincoln, sister-in-law Sandra May of Sterling, MA, brother-in-law Samuel May, niece Stephanie Serra of Sterling, MA, nephew Josh (Justin) Clark of Decatur, niece Heather Clark of Decatur, great nieces and nephew Lilianna Clark, Avacyn Clark, and Jordan Clark all of Decatur, Aunt Pat Hunt of Lincoln, cousin Harold (Shannon) Hays of Mechanicsburg, and his beloved cat Whiskers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Peggy Clark, Martha Brown, and Gary Brown.

Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Logan County, or to the Oasis Senior Center and will be accepted at the funeral home.
