[July 11, 2016]  July 10 (The Sports Xchange) - Left-hander Jose Quintana learned on Sunday that he will join Chicago White Sox teammate Chris Sale on the American League roster for the upcoming All-Star Game.

Quintana will be making his first appearance in the Midsummer Classic as he was tabbed to replace Cleveland Indians right-hander Danny Salazar.

While the move was announced by All-Star manager Ned Yost of the Kansas City Royals, Quintana was alerted when he was presented with an All-Star jersey prior to Sunday's interleague game versus Atlanta.

The 27-year-old Quintana has posted a 7-8 mark with a 3.21 ERA in 18 starts this season.

Salazar (10-3, 2.75 ERA) is dealing with "mild elbow discomfort" after issuing a season-high six runs versus the New York Yankees on Saturday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
