[July 13, 2016]  LINCOLN - Glenda F. Barnes-Herod, 68, passed away at 7:08 p.m. Friday July 8, 2016 at her son’s residence in Decatur.

Memorial gathering:  5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday July 14, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Graveside services:  11:00 a.m. Friday July 15, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery

Obituary

Glenda F. Barnes-Herod, 68, passed away at 7:08 p.m. Friday July 8, 2016 at her son’s residence in Decatur.

Glenda was born on August 18, 1947 in Clarendon, AR, to Robert and Pearl Cummings Weatherly. She married Jimmie L. Barnes on January 22, 1966. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2004. She later married David Herod on November 28, 2012 in Las Vegas, NV. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Scott (Tracy) Barnes of Lincoln, Bradley Michael (Lisa) Barnes of Decatur, and Chad (Mary) Barnes of Lincoln, three sisters, Ann (Jeff) Singleton of Lincoln, LaVerne (Terry) Landers of Long, SC., and Kay (George) Littrell of Lincoln, five grandchildren, Jace Barnes, Kendall Barnes, Jordan Barnes, Haylie Barnes, and Jimmy Barnes, and one great-grandson, Parker Alan Keele, one step son, David Herod Jr. and her best friend Linda Littrell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister JoAnne Merritt and two grandchildren, William Bradley and Joseph Michael.  

Glenda loved her God, her family, and had pride of country. There was nothing she enjoyed more than traveling with her husband Dave and spending time with her grandkids. Jace, Kendall, Jordan, Haylie, and Jimmy were the joy of her life. Her last days were spent sharing her faith with family, friends, and strangers.

Graveside services for Glenda will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 15, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Greg Wooten officiating. A memorial gathering will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday July 14, 2016 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to either the First Church of the Nazarene in Lincoln or American Cancer Society.
