[May 31, 2016]  MOUNT PULASKI - Delmar Lee Veech, 81, passed away at 6:56 P.M. on May 26, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, Mount Pulaski

Service:  10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, at the funeral home

Obituary

Delmar Lee Veech, 81, passed away at 6:56 P.M. on May 26, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Delmar was born on August 28, 1934, in Mount Pulaski, son of Jasper A. and Mary A. Ryan Veech. He married Barbara Harlean Bryson on October 3, 1953, in Cornland. She survives him.

Also surviving Delmar are his children: Marcia (Chuck) Meyer of Indianapolis, IN, Monica Edgecomb of Rochester, and Jason (Annette) Veech of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Priscilla Veech; nine grandchildren: Amy (Jason) Dumo, Emily (Jim) Willan, Matthew (Julie) Shelton, Casey (Ethan) Murphy, Jenna Edgecomb, Mollie (Sean) Finn, Kyle (Nicole) Veech, Jadon Veech, Gage Veech; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and one brother.

Delmar was a pilot for the Division of Aeronautics and retired as a pilot for the Illinois Department of Corrections. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958. He was a member of Mount Pulaski American Legion Post #447, Mount Pulaski Masonic Lodge #87, Springfield Ansar Shrine, former member of the Logan County Zoning Board, Cornland Christian Church Board, Cornland Volunteer Fire Department, and the Elks Lodge.

 



Services for Delmar will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader funeral home in Mount Pulaski with Mark Weber officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016, also at the funeral home. Masonic Services will be at 7:00 p.m. following visitation. Burial at Mount Pulaski Cemetery will follow the service where full military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or Mount Pulaski Christian Church.
