[June 04, 2016]   June 3 (The Sports Xchange) - Green Bay Packers tight end Jared Cook underwent foot surgery this week and will miss the rest of the offseason program, according to reports Friday.

The Packers hope Cook, the team's biggest offseason acquisition this year, will be back for training camp next month, multiple sources told ESPN. According to ESPN, the surgery was described as preventive and something both Cook and the Packers wanted to take care of now. Cook had participated in OTAs during the first week.

Cook, 29, came to Green Bay after three seasons with the Rams. He was released in February and the Packers gave him a one-year, $2.75 million contract in March. The 6-foot-5, 254-pound Cook had 142 receptions for 1,786 yards and eight touchdowns with the Rams, including 39 catches for 481 yards in 2015.
