60th Anniversary
“Slip” and Karen Gleason

[June 23, 2016]  Richard “Slip” and Karen Gleason of Elkhart celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 2 with a family dinner at Guzzardos.

Miss Karen Svenson, daughter of Hugo and Nellie Svenson, of Elkhart and Richard Gleason, son of James and Irene Gleason, of Elkhart were married at 9:30 am June 2, at St Patrick’s Church in Elkhart. Rev. Edward Krewer performed the double ring ceremony.

Miss Patricia Browne, of Chicago, was maid of honor, and bridesmaids were Misses Ann Davis, of Riverton, and Sandra Hutchcraft, a foster sister of the bride. Kristen Lanterman, niece of the bride was flower girl. Leo Gleason, of Berkley, Mich., was best man and ushers were Joseph Buttell, Jr and Maurice Dee, of Elkhart.

The couple lived in Elkhart where Slip farmed “west of town” and was Hurlbut Road Commissioner. Karen taught first grade at Elkhart Grade School. They have 4 children, Elise (Tom) Harms, Theresa (Tom) Moore, Ann Curry, and James (Penny). Grandchildren are Leslie (Chris) Urish, Justin Anderson, Zachary Moore, Kristie Anderson (David), Jaymie Curry, and Meghan Moore. Great-grandchildren Brady Anderson, JJ Rucker, and Ayleigh Urish.

Please join them for an open house honoring Slip and Karen Sunday, June 26 from 2-4 at Sandy’s Talk of the Town, 115 Governor Oglesby Street, Elkhart.
