Fourth grade Lady Wolverines take John Welsh Memorial Tournament Championship

[March 01, 2016]  The fourth grade Lady Wolverines took the Championship this weekend in the John Welsh Memorial Tournament.

All teams in the tournament are assured to play at least three games with the best going on to play for championship.

The fourth grade Lady Wolverines started their tournament off by defeating the Lady Tornadoes from Taylorville by a score of 36-10.

Next up for the young Lady Wolverines was a Springfield team called the Red Heaters, the Lady Wolverines found their touch and won by a score of 57-18.

Next up for the Lady Wolverines were the Knights from St. Louis. The Knights are a club organization with girls from all around the St. Louis Metropolitan area.

The small town Wolverines defeated the Knights by a score of 34-22 securing a spot in the championship game.

The Championship game consisted of the Lady Wolverines and another Knights Academy team. The Lady Wolverines came out ready to play as they pulled out to a 17-3 first quarter lead and never looked back. The Lady Wolverines won the championship with a final score of 50-17.

The Wolverines offense was amazing as Kloe Froebe led all scorers with 30, Tori Geriets 10, Becca Heitzig 4, Piper Whiteman 2 and Jenna Bowman 2.

This fourth grade team has been undefeated the last two Junior Lady Wolverine and summer seasons. The future looks bright for the Lady Railers!
