NHL roundup: Streaking Flyers squeak past struggling 'Hawks

[March 17, 2016]  CHICAGO -- Radko Gudas scored the tiebreaking goal with 10:07 remaining in the third period to lift the Philadelphia Flyers to a 3-2 win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday night.

Ryan White and Brayden Schenn also scored for the Flyers. Philadelphia increased its point streak to six consecutive games and improved to 8-1-1 in its past 10 contests.

Marian Hossa and Jonathan Toews scored for the Blackhawks, who squandered a pair of leads. Chicago dropped to 0-3-1 in its past four games.

Philadelphia goaltender Michal Neuvirth turned aside 24 of 26 while Chicago goaltender Scott Darling stopped 26 of 29 shots in the loss.

Canadiens 3, Sabres 2 (OT)

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Paul Byron scored 3:15 into overtime to lead Montreal over Buffalo.

Andrei Markov and Greg Pateryn also scored for the Canadiens. Ben Scrivens made 40 saves.

Zach Bogosian and Marcus Foligno scored for the Sabres. Robin Lehner made 19 saves.

Oilers 6, Blues 4

EDMONTON, Alberta -- St. Louis fell behind by three goals after two periods in an eventual loss to Edmonton.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Mark Letestu each scored twice for the Oilers, while Taylor Hall and Leon Draisaitl also scored. Edmonton scored four power-play goals on the night.

David Backes scored twice, and Patrik Berglund and Jaden Schwartz scored for the Blues.

Cam Talbot made 24 saves in the win while Jake Allen stopped 21 of the 26 shots he faced in the losing effort for St. Louis.

Avalanche 3, Canucks 1

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Mikkel Boedker scored twice as Colorado broke open a close game with two third-period goals to defeat Vancouver.

Andreas Martinsen also scored for the Avalanche, who snapped a three-game road losing streak with the win.

Henrik Sedin scored for the Canucks, who lost for the sixth time in nine games.

Flames 4, Jets 1

CALGARY, Alberta -- Michael Frolik had a goal and two assists to lead Calgary over Winnipeg at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Frolik's linemates also had good games, as Joe Colborne scored once and set up another, while

Mikael Backlund chipped in with a pair of assists. Sean Monahan and Mark Giordano also scored for the Flames, who won two straight games and three of their past four.

Drew Stafford scored for the Jets, who were attempting to win three straight games for just the first time this season.

Rangers 2, Ducks 1

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Kevin Klein scored twice to give the New York Rangers a win over Anaheim at the Honda Center.

Klein registered the first two-goal game of his career while Antti Raanta stopped 22 shots for the Rangers, who moved into second place in the Metropolitan Division by two points over the New York Islanders.

Jamie McGinn scored for the Ducks, who received 21 saves from John Gibson but sustained their fourth loss in five games.
