NEW YORK -- Left winger Rick Nash scored his first goal since Dec. 30 and goaltender Henrik Lundqvist stopped 25 shots as the New York Rangers defeated the Florida Panthers 4-2 at Madison Square Garden on Monday night.

Nash missed nearly two months with a bone bruise in his leg and hadn't registered a point in five games since rejoining the team.

Viktor Stalberg and Mats Zuccarello also scored for the Rangers, who took a two-point lead on the Penguins for second place in the Metropolitan. Tanner Glass scored into an empy net with 8.2 seconds remaining to seal the win.

Vincent Trocheck scored for the Panthers, who received 28 saves from goaltender Al Montoya. Jiri Hudler added a goal with 35.7 seconds remaining and Montoya on the bench for an extra skater.

Flyers 4, Islanders 1

NEW YORK -- Brandon Manning scored his first NHL goal -- a tiebreaking tally late in the second period Monday -- and Philadelphia continued to tighten the Eastern Conference wild-card race with a win over New York at Barclays Center.

Manning's goal came in his 66th career game.

Nick Cousins scored earlier in the second period, and Sam Gagner added an insurance goal in the third. Claude Giroux had an empty-netter with 26.1 seconds remaining for the Flyers, who have won nine of their last 12 to move within one point of the idle Detroit Red Wings for the second and final wild-card spot in the East.

Maple Leafs 5, Flames 2

TORONTO -- William Nylander's first career three-point game helped Toronto post a win over Calgary at Air Canada Centre.

Nylander scored the eventual winner 29 seconds into the third period, one-timing a Jake Gardiner feed top corner on Jonas Hiller for his fourth of the season. The 19-year-old rookie has five points in his last two games.

P.A. Parenteau, Zach Hyman, Colin Greening and Josh Leivo had the other goals for the Leafs.

Predators 5, Kings 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A second-period outburst was enough for Nashville to hold off Los Angeles and earn two points in a preview of a potential first-round Western Conference playoff matchup.

Ryan Johansen collected three points, including a critical goal that blunted Los Angeles' third-period rally, as Nashville bagged a verdict at sold-out Bridgestone Arena.

The Predators moved within four points of the Chicago Blackhawks for third place in the Central Division while denying the playoff-bound Kings a chance to extend their Pacific Division lead over the Anaheim Ducks to six points.
