LINCOLN – The rain kept the Lincoln Railsplitters of the baseball diamond most the last week. And that may be a good thing.

The Railers fell apart in two games this week, blowing a five run lead against Springfield Southeast early in the week and getting hammered by Normal Community on Friday.

The Railers didn't hit well in either outing.

The game against Normal, was part of a charity tournament at the Corn Crib in Normal.

The only charity for the Railers was that it ended quickly.

Normal Community fired-off seven runs in the first inning, and picked up a few more in the second.

Lincoln rallied, though, scoring four of their own in the top of the third inning.

Senior Ryan Thomas belted a double that scored two of the runs.

But Normal Community responded. The Ironmen exploded for six runs in their half of the inning, including an inside the park home run that came from a misplayed ball to center field.

Normal won 14-4 in just five innings.

Lincoln's weekend games were also rained out.
