[May 03, 2016]  On Sunday, The Lincoln Heat 10U were able to score 20 runs in two games to take two wins over visiting Peoria Richwoods. Lincoln won the first game 16-5.

In the first game, Brenden Wurth and Colbie Glenn both went 3-3 at the plate, as Wyatt Mammen drove in four runs to put the game away for the Heat. Mammen connected for his second homerun of the year on a base-clearing drive to the deep center field.

The Lincoln Heat 10U combined for seventeen hits in the first game. Besides Wurth and Glenn getting three hits, Trey Schilling, Wyatt Mammen, and Griffen Shaw balanced the attack with two hits apiece.
On the mound, Lincoln was led once again by Ryan O’Donoghue, going four innings, striking out twelve, allowing just one walk to capture his second win of the early season. Michael Lucas received the save in the fifth inning striking out two and getting his first save of the year.

In the second game, it was a pitching duel that paced the game to a Heat win over Richwoods 4-3 in five innings. Brenden Wurth pitched a great game over three and two-third innings giving up only one hit and striking out nine. Michael Lucas reappeared on the mound once again to relieve Wurth, grabbing three strikeouts to keep Lincoln in the game in the bottom of the fifth and down 3-1.

But it was Wyatt Mammen’s aggressive base running in the bottom of the fifth that allowed him to score on an over-throw while stealing third base to score the winning run for Lincoln in dramatic fashion.

At the plate in the second game, Lincoln was led by Trey Schilling and Brenden Wurth with a hit apiece. Along with Schilling and Wurth, Mammen and Jarret Evers each scored a run in the game.
The two wins for the Lincoln Heat 10U on Sunday improved their record to 5-1 on the season.

The Heat are on the road all next week with games in Washington, Dunlap, and a double-header in Mt. Zion on Saturday.
