[May 03, 2016]  May 2 (The Sports Xchange) - Baltimore shortstop J.J. Hardy suffered a hairline fracture of his left foot on Sunday and will miss from six to eight weeks.

Hardy fouled a ball off his left foot in the fourth inning against the Chicago White Sox.

Major League Baseball suspended Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Josh Ravin for 80 games after testing positive for Growth Hormone Releasing Peptide 2.

Ravin is on the 40-man roster, but has been on the disabled list after breaking his arm in a car accident during spring training.

Astros right-handed pitcher Lance McCullers worked 4 2/3 innings in extended spring training on Monday, throwing 62 pitches with a fastball velocity between 92-97 miles per hour.

He has been on the 15-day disabled list since March 25 with right shoulder soreness.

Twins right-handed pitcher Ervin Santana is scheduled to throw a simulated game of 30-40 pitches on Tuesday and, barring any unforeseen setbacks, should return to the club by Saturday to make his fifth start of the season.

Santana landed on the 15-day disabled list on April 26 (retroactive to April 20) with a lower back strain.

Astros center fielder Carlos Gomez has begun baseball activities and should avoid a trip to the disabled list.

Gomez missed his third consecutive game on Monday with left rib cage soreness, an injury sustained on an outfield dive last Friday night in Oakland.

The Seattle Mariners outrighted the contract of right-handed pitcher Joe Wieland to Triple-A Tacoma.

Wieland, 26, is 1-3 with a 17.31 ERA over 13 innings in five starts with Tacoma this season.

Cincinnati Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
