NHL roundup: Boyle, Lightning strike Isles in OT

[May 04, 2016]    NEW YORK -- Brian Boyle scored 2:48 into overtime Tuesday night to lift the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 5-4 victory over the New York Islanders in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals at Barclays Center.

The Lightning lead the series 2-1 with Game 4 scheduled for Friday night at Barclays Center.

Boyle leveled Islanders defenseman Thomas Hickey before picking up the loose puck and beginning the winning rally. He followed the play and put back a rebound of a shot by Alex Killorn.

Nikita Kucherov scored with 38.4 seconds left in regulation to force overtime for the Lightning. Ryan Callahan, Victor Hedman and Vladislav Namestnikov also scored for the reigning Eastern Conference champions. Goalie Ben Bishop recorded 35 saves.

Josh Bailey scored two goals while Nick Leddy and Cal Clutterbuck each added a goal for the Islanders, who are in second round for the first time since 1993. Thomas Greiss made 36 saves.

Predators 4, Sharks 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Getting 26 saves from Pekka Rinne and clutch play from most of its big guns, Nashville earned its first win in the best-of-seven Western Conference semifinals, topping San Jose at Bridgestone Arena.

The Sharks lead the series 2-1, but the Predators can square things up if they win Game 4 on Thursday night.

Shea Weber, James Neal, Colin Wilson and Filip Forsberg scored for the Predators.

Patrick Marleau scored the Sharks lone goal, while Martin Jones finished with 21 saves.

Blues 6, Stars 1

ST. LOUIS -- Alexander Steen and David Backes each scored two goals and Vladimir Tarasenko scored one and assisted on two more to lead St. Louis over Dallas in Game 3 of their second-round playoff series.

The Blues, who also got a goal from Troy Brouwer, scored six unanswered goals as they took a 2-1 lead over the Stars in the best-of-seven series.

Colton Sceviour scored his second goal of the playoffs, off a rebound at 4:44, for the Stars' lone goal.
