Illinois Churches in Action announces winners of Alcohol Awareness Month Poster Contest

[May 10, 2016]  SPRINGFIELD - April was Alcohol Awareness Month. Illinois Churches in Action is pleased to announce the winners of the 21st Annual Alcohol Awareness Month Poster Contest for students in grades sixth through 12th. The theme was “Don’t Drink Drugs, Alcohol is a Drug.” All entries were to demonstrate the value of not drinking.

Hannah Crider, an 11th grader from a home school in Lincoln, is the first place winner and received a HP laptop and a certificate of achievement. In addition, Daniel Crider, a 6th grader, was an individual winner and received a certificate of achievement, sports bag with a prevention message, and a gift card. The winning posters were displayed in the State Capitol Rotunda.

Lynn Allen, the Youth Director at Illinois Churches in Action said, “Alcohol is the most widely used drug among youth. We appreciate the efforts of the students in presenting about the ‘no use’ of alcohol for youth in Illinois.”

Illinois Churches in Action is an affiliate of Illinois Church Action on Alcohol and Addiction Problems. This statewide organization is based in Springfield and works with schools, churches, and community groups to prevent problems of alcohol, other drugs, and gambling.
