[May 17, 2016]  May 16 (The Sports Xchange) - Two-time Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum has reached a deal with the Los Angeles Angels, ESPN reported Monday.

The deal is pending a physical.

Lincecum has not pitched since June 27 because of a degenerative hip problem. He had arthroscopic hip surgery Sept. 3.

He has spent his entire nine-year career with the San Francisco Giants. Last season in 15 starts he compiled a 7-4 record with a 4.13 ERA.

While the Sunday's brawl between Toronto and Texas was the main topic of conversation on Monday, the Blue Jays were bolstering their bench by acquiring infielder/outfielder Jimmy Paredes on waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.

Paredes had yet to appear in a game for the Orioles this season. A sprained wrist landed him on the disabled list and the Orioles had hoped to sneak him through waivers before sending him to a rehab assignment in Triple-A.

The Pittsburgh Pirates put outfielder Starling Marte on the paternity list after the birth of his daughter.

Marte, the Pirates' leading hitter (.326) will miss at least Monday's game against the Atlanta Braves, but not more than three games.

Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley will be examined Tuesday by the same doctor who performed the surgery in November to repair a torn labrum that Brantley suffered in September.

The Indians fear they might have rushed Brantley back into action too quickly after the surgery.

Detroit center fielder Cameron Maybin made his season debut after being activated from the 15-day disabled list on Monday.

Maybin suffered a wrist fracture when hit by a pitch during spring training, then sprained his shoulder during one of his rehab stints. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
