[May 25, 2016]  McLEAN - Brenda Laswell Mason, 43, of McLean passded away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at 3:22 a.m. at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.

Visitation:  4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, at the McLean Christian Church

Service: Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the church

Funeral home: Quiram Peasley Funeral Home, Atlanta

Obituary

Brenda Mason, 43, of McLean, passed away at 3:22 a.m., Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Advocate Bromenn Medical Center in Normal.

Visitation for Brenda will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the McLean Christian Church.

A Memorial Service will follow the visitation Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the McLean Christian Church with Mr. Tony Billingsley officiating.

Cremation Rites have been accorded. Interment will be in the McLean Cemetery at a later date.

Brenda Annette Lasswell was born July 20, 1972, in Lincoln, the daughter of Larry and Wanda Foley Lasswell. She married Michael Mason on December 19, 1992. He passed away on March 21, 2011.

Brenda is survived by her parents, Larry and Wanda Lasswell, of McLean; one son: Andrew Mason, and his special friend, Brittney Knudson; one daughter: Kylie Mason, all of McLean; one sister: Becky (Joe) Gaither of Stanford; two brothers: Brad (Alice Kay) Lasswell of Williamsville, and Barry Lasswell of St. Charles, Ill.; nephews: Ben Lasswell, Adam Gaither, Evan Gaither, and Alec Gaither; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 

Funeral Director

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, one paternal aunt: Connie Lasswell, and several maternal aunts and uncles.

Brenda enjoyed her family, music, and reading. During her middle school years, she was a cheerleader. Later, attending Olympia High School, she had the role of Sandy in "Grease, " and the role of Baroness in "The Sound of Music," was a class officer, and prom queen her senior year. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1990. Brenda attended Western Illinois University and Illinois Central College, which she participated in choir. She then attended McKendree College in Lebanon. She taught vocal music in the Shiloh School District.

Brenda was a loving, caring person, and she will be missed by her family and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Association or Mt. Hope-Funks Grove Fire Department.

Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of Atlanta.
