Barry was born and raised in Lincoln and knew from a young age
that she wanted to go into health care. Her mother, LaVerne Landers,
was the Director of Nursing at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
After watching her mother’s devotion to her patients and dedication
to ALMH, she knew she wanted to walk in her footsteps and join the
health care field.
Barry was nominated by a grateful patient who came into ALMH to be
monitored for labor. She provided comfort and care during a
stressful time.
“I was terrified; she stayed and held my hand, offering words of
encouragement. I found it awesome that someone would care that
much,” said the grateful patient who nominated her for the honor.
For four years, Barry has been a nurse technician on the acute care
team at ALMH. Her daily responsibilities focus on providing
excellent care to her patients. Duties include taking vitals,
bathing, walking with them and most importantly, she prides herself
in “doing her best to make them feel comfortable, happy and safe,”
said Barry. “I enjoy my job. It’s heart-filling to work with a great
team; we are all a family!”
