Crusaders take two from Illini Central

[November 01, 2016]    CCS/NHM/ZLS Crusaders hosted the first night of its season kick-off annual boy's basketball tournament on Monday evening at Carroll Catholic School.

 

The host Crusaders faced the Cougars of Illini Central.

In the 7th grade contest the Crusaders proved victorious in a back-and-forth nail-biter, that was decided on a last-second layup by Darren Stevens. The final tally was 31-30.

Leading the scoring for the Crusaders was Andrew Graue with 17 points, followed by Drew McCray and Stevens with six a piece. Rounding out the scoring was Everett Maaks with two.

In the 8th Grade contest, the Crusaders won handily against the Cougars by a score of 62-9.

Leading the Crusaders was Dylan Singleton with 29 points, followed by Jared Merriman with 10, Jared Helton with 8, Nathan Fulscher with 6, Isaiah Wahab with 4, Andrew Graue with 3 and Trent Koehler with 2. The Crusaders will now face West Lincoln-Broadwell today (Tuesday) at 6:30 p.m. for the 7th grade game and 7:45 p.m. for the 8th Graders.
