[November 02, 2016]  Nov 1 (The Sports Xchange) - Philadelphia Flyers veteran forward Boyd Gordon is expected to be sidelined at least a week with an upper-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.

Gordon has scored one goal in eight games and leads the team by winning 52.4 percent of his faceoffs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs' youth movement continued as the team recalled forward Nikita Soshnikov from its American Hockey League affiliate.

Soshnikov collected two goals and three assists in 11 games with the Maple Leafs last season. The 23-year-old Russian has scored a goal and set up two others in six contests with the Toronto Marlies this season.

The injured-riddled Minnesota Wild recalled forwards Christoph Bertschy, Tyler Graovac and Jordan Schroeder from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League prior to Tuesday's game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Minnesota also announced that forward Zac Dalpe underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee. The 27-year-old Dalpe, who was placed on long-term injured reserve, was hurt during Saturday's 4-0 victory over the Dallas Stars and is expected to be sidelined four-to-six weeks.

Veteran defenseman Rob Scuderi was assigned to Ontario of the American Hockey League, just hours after he was recalled from the Los Angeles Kings.

Scuderi, who has yet to appear in an NHL game this season, was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks for fellow defenseman Christian Ehrhoff on Feb. 16. The 37-year-old was held without a point and was a minus-6 in 17 games with Chicago last season after being acquired from Pittsburgh on Dec. 14.

The Buffalo Sabres recalled forward Justin Bailey from Rochester of the American Hockey League.

Bailey was held without a point in eight games with the Sabres last season. The 21-year-old Buffalo native has scored three goals and set up another in seven contests with Rochester this season.

The Carolina Hurricanes activated defenseman Ryan Murphy from injured reserve.

Murphy sustained a lower-body injury in a preseason game versus the Buffalo Sabres on Oct. 4. The 23-year-old Ontario native is expected to make his season debut on Tuesday night at the Ottawa Senators. Murphy notched 10 assists in 35 games with Carolina last season. (Editing by Frank Pingue)
